Frequently Asked Questions

How do I charge my Apartment Guardian device?

Connect the cord to the charging stand, plug it in, and place the Apartment Guardian device in the charging stand. You also have the option of using the magnetic charging cord to plug your device in directly, just like you would with a cell phone.

A blinking red light on the charging base indicates that your device is charging. When it’s fully charged, the light will be solid.

How often do I need to charge my device?

We recommend charging your device at least once every 3 to 4 weeks.

How do I turn on my device?

Press the button with a picture of a phone on the side of your device. You will see blue and/or green lights blinking to indicate that the device is on.

What does it mean when the lights on the side of the device turn off?

To preserve battery life, your device will sometimes go into power-saving mode, and the blue or green lights will turn off — but don’t worry, your device is still active.
If you hold down the panic button for 3 seconds to activate it, the device will automatically turn back on and connect you with emergency services. When the device is in power-saving mode, you can also press the power button again to wake it up.

How do I activate my device in an emergency?

If you encounter an emergency situation, simply press and hold the panic button on your Apartment Guardian device for 3 seconds, or until you feel it vibrate. Your device will then dial 911 and connect you with emergency services.

When I activate my device, will 911 be able to see my location?

911 will not be able to access your GPS location through your device, so it’s always best to clearly communicate your location to the dispatcher.
