Arrest made on man who assaulted NJ maintenance worker
WEST DEPTFORD – A township man is accused of assaulting a maintenance worker in an attack caught on video.
Anthony J. Morgan, 28, of West Deptford is charged with simple assault in connection with the April 7 incident at the Westwood Court Apartments on Tatum Street, police said.
According to police, Morgan allegedly confronted a maintenance supervisor who asked him to leave the complex after Morgan had thrown sticks at an apartment window around 8:45 a.m.
Police alleged Morgan argued with the worker, then started recording him with a cellphone.
Morgan allegedly “placed the phone directly in front of the maintenance supervisor’s face before finally striking him with the phone,” police said. “The maintenance supervisor was knocked to the ground and suffered lacerations.”
Police publicized their search for a suspect by releasing a video made by an onlooker.
Morgan was being held Thursday in Salem County Jail.
